"The mind is like an iceberg, it floats with one-seventh
of its bulk above the water."
-Sigmund Freud

This may be my favorite photo of the snow season!  I happened to be cutting through some back roads in a somewhat rural area in my part of the state, and my husband noticed this ever so real piece of nature.  The faux iceberg with the penguins floating in this natural frozen tundra was captivating.

Who knew penguins were indigenous to Tennessee?
People who take the time to create such interesting work please me.
I wonder what floats beneath the surface of the creator?

Journaling My Way!

"Either write something worth reading
or do something worth writing."
-Ben Franklin

I'm not a journal-er, no keeping of my daily thoughts and actions....but, I love to keep quotes, addresses and notes on people I meet.  I have many, many journals of such information.  I like to encourage my daughter to keep such data for it is quite a stitch to go back and read.

I have actually looked at a name....pondered...and had no recollection of this person. But, upon reading my notes..."tall blonde, great personality, had on a handmade striped scarf, easy to talk to, has two children ages 6 and 9, really enjoys knitting" I knew exactly who she was.  Many people stick names to people for memory....I stick facts and traits.  How do you remember people?

The above mini journals I made for an art class as the attendee party favors.
I encouraged my flavor of journaling.

Life Is Like Riding A Bicycle!

"Life is like riding a bicycle,
in order to keep your balance
you must keep moving."
-Albert Einstein

Just wanted to share one more photo from Rosemary Beach.  I loved the mode of transportation the locals used....and oh, so stylish!  Bikes were not this cool in my bike riding days.

Most everyone is experiencing a little winter at this time, so a vision such as this makes looking forward to Spring quite inviting. Not to wish time away...but, look forward to brighter days!

Back to art real soon!

Girls Getaway Weekend In Rosemary Beach! Part II

"Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes.
Art is knowing which ones to keep."
-Scott Adams

This is where the morning began.  Beautiful, former chapel, now the Town Hall in Rosemary Beach.  An earlier event featured this tent inside the large room, and the art class got to take advantage! It created quite a lovely environment for creativity.
Each place setting was filled with supplies, ephemera and all types of junk!
But, if you thought the room was inviting...the smell of Edie's breakfast was far better.  Her food was visually delish....only to be one-upped with great taste.
Sausage pinwheels, bacon wrapped dates, homemade muffins, apple dip, and the Getaway-tini!
Woo hoo!
This was my retail area....
Let the creativity begin.....
Now...look what was the end result of good food...great friends...and an endless supply of creativity!

"Creativity is the power to connect
 the seemingly unconnected."
-William Plower

translated by me at the Rosemary Beach Collage Art Class:

No one knew everyone....yet the creative muse connected everyone!

Girls Getaway Weekend In Rosemary Beach!

There are things, occasions, situations that mark "tingle" moments in your is those times you will forever remember.  For me, the Girls Getaway Weekend supplied one of those "tingle" moments...and it happened when I saw the t-shirt.  One of many opportunities in participating in Girls Getaway Weekend (GGW) was to supply the Foundation with a piece of art that becomes the signature image for the invitation and T-SHIRT!

It was late on Thursday evening...I walked up to the check-in desk, and there they were, stacks of GGW t-shirts...all with my art splattered across the front.  It was definitely a "tingle" moment.

Now comes yet another "tingle moment"....a person wearing the t-shirt of their own fashion choice...and then a group of women wearing the t-shirt.  It just didn't get much better!

Many shout-outs must be given to the lady in charge, Kim Jameson!  She orchestrated a fantastic weekend of fun, friends and food!  But, more importantly, I must thank her for the invitation to participate in such a great event.  Gathering 160+/- women together for a weekend of organized activities takes a special dedication....genius....patience...and time.

One of my dearest friends... and my junking buddy, is Edie!  Part of my art class was supplying the attendees with a scrumptious breakfast!  Now, if I were going to make this meal, the event would have ended waaaaay early, so my culinary friend took over serving the yummy breakfast delights, including the signature Girls Getaway-tini!  She has a television cooking show, so her expertise made the morning even more memorable.

These are the stars of the morning....the artists!  My class was a "mixed media collage" class!  Above are the attendees and their finished artwork.  Everybody brought their creative 'a' game to the table.  It was a morning.

Tomorrow we will delve into the creative process....stay-tuned!

I was so excited to see my quaint little handiwork featured in the latest issue of Apronology!  There is nothing more dreamy than the photos they take....and the yumminess of the magazine.  I personally love how the paper seems more natural...handmade...or something.  It's not glossy...thin...nothing like a typical magazine.  It has stability!  Love it!
Be sure to purchase your own copy!  There are oodles of great creativity and inspiration...all wrapped up in the utilitarian garment we all know as the simple little apron.  Enjoy!

I'm filled with mountains of glee...happiness...and creative information!  All coming from my week away at "Girls Getaway Weekend of Rosemary Beach".  Will begin the sharing tomorrow....many photos to crop, edit, etc.   Check back!

I'm Always Here....

Love this sign...bought it at the Ga-zillion Mile Yard Sale in 2008!  Cannot think of the artists name...but, she always has a booth with stacks of quirky wording on old barn wood.  Love it!  Today I am in my car driving to the Girls Getaway Weekend!  Can't wait.  Many happenings to share.  Hopefully, I'll be able to do it along the way!  Have a great week!
