Artistic View No. 1

"The great omission in life is solitude...the zone of time and space,
free from the outside pressures, which is the incinerator of the spirit."

New Toys!

For the next few posts let's do an exercise in artistic views.  I have been mad (a good way) about my new camera.  Finally the learning curve is becoming fun!  Can't wait to share the creative fun I've been having.  I just LOVE new toys! Pop in for the next few days and see what has been in my eye.....

Sweetness!

when hearts are full
of their own sweetness."

Remnants Of Mother's Day!

Just had to share my Mother's Day card with the masses.  My little friend created this little Halmark Card during Graphic Design class at school.  The pairing of these two photos was outstanding...I thought.  The old vintage merry-go-round we discovered while hiking one day, and a photo-shopped image of myself trying to be a large human letter "X" popping out of the top...complimented with a phrase in the word bubble that I truly have said many, many, times...."I Love Embroidery Floss".  The randomness of the whole card is more sentiment than anything I could have imagined.  She gets me.

"Research indicates that for Mother's Day,
consumers prefer to spend
a little more on cards because they know that
Mothers tend to read and reread every word."
-Rachel Bolton

My little friend spent more effort and time...handmade all the way!
I will definitely read and reread for years to come.
My sentimental word for Mother's Day is "blessed"...need I say more.

Buttons!

"Not the buttons! Not the gumdrop buttons!"
-Gingerbread Man, Shrek

Not the buttons.....as of late everything I'm creating requires a gigantic amount of buttons!  Have you ever collected something to use in your projects...then hate the prospect of using the things you have collected?  I have jars of buttons...but, I don't want to lesson the amount of buttons in the jar.  This must be some type of twisted form of "hoarding".

The older I get, the closer I'm creating the odd lady's stuff you see at estate sales.  I'm becoming the woman with 89 sets of salt-n-pepper sets, but not one grain of either seasoning in any of them.  The collector with multi units of everything, but nothing used for its purpose.  (i.e. note the jar of thimbles above)  Does one need 27 thimbles?

I've got to give up the buttons....they are everywhere!

"Yes the buttons!, Yes all the buttons!"

Kitschy Dwellings!

"The ornament of a house
are the friends that frequent it."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Four little houses all in a row,
None of them match, yet all of them go.
Just a few kitschy dwellings!

Big Thoughts!

Finished this weekend a gi-normous piece...for me.  This is 16x20....I never create anything this large.  But, I was feeling large, which obviously equates to large work!  Everyone was away from the house and all I seemed to do was eat!  Big appetite....big art!

But, in lieu of its largeness, I did love the big quote:

"the pleasantest things in the world are pleasant thoughts,
and the greatest art in life is to have as many of them as possible"

Big thoughts!

Jiffy Art!

Just a little piece of everything I love in art....yummy, little vintage scotty dog....teenie, tiny pearl button card...lid to an old Jiffy jar....hymn music....little stitchy heart (lower left)...letter stamped bingo covers...all assembled on to one canvas.

"I honestly don't remember not being involved in art.
It's been a necessity.
It's my way of expressing myself.
It's something I love to do."
-Sam Gauss

I've been channeling Sam.
