Gaudy-ized!

Purchased this miniature dress dummy at the most awesome antique store in Chattanooga, TN...

But it glowed of "mass production"!  So, I gaudy-ized it!  If ever you find interesting display pieces...snap them up!  You can always use them!

What I have learned about retail.....

1.  you may make something outstanding...but, if not displayed in a unique/attractive way....forget it!
2.  If you purchase generic store displays....personalize it!  Make it reflect your creativity!
3.  Never sell awesome displays.  I've replaced things over and over again.  It gets too hard to find some interesting display pieces, so reconsider putting a price tag on everything.

Winner...Winner Bark Cloth Thrifter!

Just needed to kill about 20 minutes before meeting the family at the theatre....and luckily, a Goodwill store shares the same parking lot.  Just popped in there to see what treasure I might find and look....four, perfect, not moth eaten, no peep holes, Bark Cloth curtain panels...in my favorite colors!

Currently they are all in a bag to take to the cleaners.
Can't wait to find a room to hang them in...whoop...whoop!

Drum rooooollllllll........
You are going to flip when you see the price....

Yes.....two Bark Cloth...perfect curtain panels for only $5.99!
The Junk Fairies were shining down!
There is nothing better than finding such a treasure on a whim!

don't expect the good, just rejoice in the surprise."

Schizophrenic Creativity!

After yesterday's post of "too"...I chose to swing toward the minimalist side...anyway it is for me.
Just a little schizophrenic creativity!

Sharing the Bad

This little piece of art falls strongly on the "more just may not be better" side of creativity.  The moment of assembly in my head looked better than the actual piece in reality.  It looks like I took an "over kill" pill...and then chased it with a shot of "too much".  Whew.  It visually makes me anxious.

Unfortunate for you, I chose to share the bad.

Oh Where is Cute Outerwear!

If I could find the coat in the above picture, I would buy it right now.  Love the single button closure.  Oh where...oh where is cute outerwear!

Stitchy Redundance!

Fun little piece of art....as my favorite daughter would say, "oh wow, a little stitchy thing sewn on an old photo, glued on to a book cover, oh, and look you've also sewn buttons and ribbon on it.....clever."  She is so encouraging.  It must all get redundant to her.....

The Last Quest...for Awhile...

"Sometimes less is more.  Our quest for more, then, keeps us from it."

QUEST:  5

Suddenly I've found myself in quest of tiny, old, leather coin purses....wonder what they held...
OK...let me just say, if I had taken the time to create this lovely embroidery piece...I would not put it in a yard sale.  Too sweet!

Mystery item!  I know it is a stamp.  I know it is a stamp of different types of arrows.  I don't know why you need this....

This is a little pile of goodies destined for my antique booth at Knitting Mill Antiques.  Please stop in and visit to see the result of much "questing" over the summer.  New goodies coming in and out all the time.

The quest for more is alive and well!
Long live quests!

Quest: 4

"Sometimes less is more.
Our quest for more, then, becomes a game."

QUEST :  4

I love, love vintage games, especially BINGO!  The metal spinner...thick cards....wooden cover-ups....outstanding graphics...divine!
Of course a Monopoly game with wooden houses and hotels.....bah-dah-BING!

BEANO was unknown to me.....never heard of it.  Obviously, someone took a great idea (i.e.BINGO) and re-invented the wheel.  The cover-ups were dried beans.  Truly original and clever...and as the box cover reads...."it is a peppy game for young and old" too...who knew?

The quest for vintage games...quest-a-rrific!
