Vintage Cigar Wrappers!

Recently went to a wonderful estate sale.  I am always fascinated at what people collect and I eventually get to purchase as a lover of someone else's things.  A strange cycle of retail...don't you think?

This latest find was cigar wrappers.  Growing up in a tobacco producing area I had an affection for all things tobacco (I know it is bad for you...but, it is packaged beautifully!)  This particular collector loved tobacco paper ephemera as well.  These 21" cigar wrappers were beautiful!

I have no idea what I'm going to do with them...I see art in their future...but, I purchased so many I put a few in my etsy store today.   Just look and see printing at its finest.  Pretty!

I wish everyone took such pride in their packaging!!

Free Motion Sewing!

I know I am ions behind in the sewing world...but, free motion sewing has always been one of my "want to do" activities.  Accidentally, the other night I was cleaning out the mechanics of my sewing machine and I knocked the doo-dad that is the sewing guide off (please attempt to follow my technical descriptions please).  With this doo-dad off....I decided to see what would happen if I started sewing.

EPIPHANY.....HARK!
This is what you do for free motion sewing.  Wow...had no idea.

I immediately went through two bobbins of thread and one spool.
FUN...FUN!

I started with this remnant of brown felt that blossomed into a bird on a plant....no clue.

Then, I started a flower that became a pocket to nothing.

It was fantastic!  Rogue sewing!
Loved it!
Highly recommend.

Bumper Sticker!

I am on a roll.....
Yes, I have created another bumper sticker.  Oddly enough, my affections for junk have found a place on the junking vehicles across America!  Yea!

This one reads, "I Love Old Stuff!"
-all people that enjoy dust, dirt and rust

It is high time we share our JUNKING LOVE!!!

FOLK Magazine!

For years my favorite magazine was "Home Companion". I was in mourning for almost three months when I no longer received what I thought to be....the best rag EVER!

But, just as one magazine closes...another one seems to open.
Now, we have the good fortune of
"FOLK" !

But, the ultimate joy is to see your writing in print.  There was a call to submit your definition of being a "Folk" person....I immediately knew the answer.  I grew up in "FOLK" country....amongst "FOLK" people....I am died in the wool "FOLK"!!

My small ramblings were on the top of the last page.  Just under "Until Next Time".....
It looks small from this photo, but, it was gi-normous in my eyes.

 I basically penned my sentiments about each letter of "FOLK".

                                                 F = Food
                                                 O = Opulence
                                                 L = Likability
                                                 K = Kick Butt Good Times

Thank you "FOLK" for including me in your beautiful magazine!
Everyone pick it up, enjoy the lovely photos and articles and
most certainly support a business with such yummy beginnings!
