I just recently had the privilege of taking my little friend and her friend to the
Atlanta Color Run! My role was mainly to be the photographer and provide transportation (for we left at 4:30am). Oddly, I expected nothing but enjoyment watching my girls have fun...although, that was certainly a by-product of the day....I loved it!
Approximately 8,000 people, all shapes, sizes, ages and skill levels of athletes were in attendance. Each was dressed in a white shirt, number and a huge spirit to enjoy a 5k run that had no timer, no winner and lots of powder color packets. Who knew running a race with a pile of unknown people and running through pockets of color tunnels fogging the sky and discoloring everything you had on...including your skin and hair...could be so fun...
and absolutely beautiful?
After completion of the race everyone gathers in waves, huddle to the middle of the festival area and with a simple count down, hurl their color packets into the air. Pictures do not do it visual justice. The array of color sprayed into the air like an atomic explosion. Absolutely beautiful!
And yes, tutus were a fashion must.
This is what happens if you landed in the middle of the mosh pit during the count down.
As we all know....COLOR is beautiful....in all forms!
