I do not live in a thriving metropolis (i.e. New York City, Atlanta), but I do live in a wonderful southern city, Chattanooga. I grew up in the middle of many acres of beautiful farm land, but have spent the last few decades in various charming neighborhoods. So, when I go home and see this much open space it is quite breath taking. The layers of color I see every day are generally obstructed with buildings, houses, telephone poles and billboards, but the layers of color you see on the farm are all free from man made obstructions. It is beautiful. Never take for granted the beauty of nature.

Off Center!
It has been a while since I have stepped into blog land...and I feel a little rusty. Actually, the picture above represents where and how I feel...leaning a little and completely off center. Whew! The past few days have been focused toward getting my creative world back to center.
Due to daughter activities I have been in a hotel room for the past three days. It has been fantastic! No laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping or chores of life. Just me, my sewing machine, laundry basket of creative supplies, free coffee all day long, beautiful view of the swimming pool and endless episodes of "Toddlers and Tiaras", "Law and Order", Real Housewives of ?" and "Hoarders". Due to the unnecessary need of intellectual involvement needed to view such television, my brain has been wide open to creative freedom. Love it!
I think my house is about to get centered.
Yea!

Craft To Go Kit!
I am always on the hunt for the magical "craft bag" that encompasses all of my creative needs. Believe me, I have tried every type of backpack, divider container, tote or satchel that has been designated the ultimate creative carrying device. Some are great, but not quite what I need.
First mistake on my part is thinking I need to carry enough supplies to make a quilt, crochet a sweater, stitch an entire team's logo on their shirt or clothe some naked person I might encounter at a volleyball tournament. Truly, a craft bag should contain a reasonable amount of supplies that could outfit some splurge of creativity that may only have a window of 15-30 minutes to reach lift-off. In the middle of a sporting event is not the time to create your entry into the largest embroidered piece of fabric for "Guinness Book of World Records." Said "craft bag" should be minimal!
To which this was created.
1. a letter size accordion file
2. an embroidery floss divider box
This is only two things!
First of all the key to fun embroidery is a wonderful palette of color. My choice of color is clearly driven by the millisecond I begin a project. I like options. This gives me many.
Next the accordion file...first pocket I have needles and scissors.
Middle pockets hold old photos, pre-cut squares of great fabric, ephemera and miscellaneous doo-dads I might could embellish the finished work. Not a huge inventory, but plenty to get the creative juices flowing.
The back pocket holds a tiny embroidery hoop, for sometimes this does make tedious sewing easier.
There you have it....two things. This can be thrown into the tote that carries my Ipad, snacks, water, camera and newspaper. Thus far, this is 'da-bomb'!

Embroidery Conundrum
I have an embroidery conundrum.
What word do you say when you read this?
On a recent volleyball excursion I was killing some time creating when I made the above. Upon completion I shared my finished good with my Honey. This is what he said, "why would you sew up the word grim?"
My first thoughts were:
1. did I misspell the word "grin"?
2. does anyone remember cursive class and an "n" has two humps, while a "m" has three?
3. is this possibly a creative counterpart to the "glass half full vs half empty theory?"
4. can I ever use this on anything or will the mass majority read "grim"?
6. since when does anyone refer to embroidery as sewing up?
5. ahhhhh....oh which word, oh what to do?
YOU TELL ME!
What do you see?

Matador Hero!
"Toro Collection" |
Plastic figurines or action heroes have never been a participant in my world of playful imagination. I have seen many cowboys and Indians, super powers and military personnel in the hands of lots of little boys and girls, yet the bull and matador have never seemed to be acting out any scenarios that I am aware. These two little guys were so cute....I couldn't resist. I'm not quite sure what the red blob on the back of the bull means....we will leave that to the imagination (I feel a sword could have been involved). Any who....just a couple of cute little toys.....

Boston Terrier Baby!
My furry daughter, Daisy, is so precious!
